Livnot Kesher - Building Connections
JET works to connect every Jewish teen to exciting and meaningful Jewish activities that will encourage their personal growth and ensure the vitality of our community. In order to provide quality experiences that meet the needs of every teen, we must both enhance existing programs and create new ones to match their wants and needs. Livnot Kesher has chosen three pilot synagogues to experiment with creative and innovative ways to engage teens in Jewish life. Through Livnot Kesher, congregation lay people, teens and professionals work as teams. They act as change-agents in their synagogues, bringing about new ways of engaging teens, and finding ways to utilize long-standing and new initiatives to build the right connection for each teenager's interests. JET trains the teams, interviews congregation teens to find out their interests, provides each synagogue with valuable information on "where their teens are at", and offers funds for the engagement initiatives they create to meet their teens' wants and needs.
Currently, three Greater Washington area synagogues participate in Livnot Kesher:
B'nai Shalom of Olney - Olney, MD
Congregation B'nai Tzedek - Potomac, MD
Temple Beth Ami - Rockville, MD
